2016 Optima

One of the top models this year comes from Kia, with the 2016 Optima, which was a finalist for North American Car of the Year. The design of the 2016 Optima is all about creating great lines and a comfortable and spacious interior for the car. In the words of Kia itself, they wanted to over-deliver on the interior of the car and blow past the expectations of customers to give them something truly unique.

Looking at the power of the car, it runs on a 2-liter to 2.4-liter tank depending on the model chosen, with a range of 185 to 245 horsepower engine.

Kia wanted to give its customers something more this year with the 2016 Optima, and they deliver with a stiff body structure and improved electric power steering. There is a reason the Optima is one of the best selling cars in North America and the 2016 version shows why.

Looking at all important fuel economy, the Optima provides 24 miles per gallon in the city and a fantastic 32 miles per gallon on the highway. The six-speed transmission operates with manual and automatic depending on the manual, and provides more efficiency to the vehicle.

The ride quality is one of perfection, smooth and stable. Driving on a bumpy gravel road, or driving on a smooth highway, the noise and the feel is going to be minimal and smooth.

Inside the vehicle, there is plenty of storage space to use, with the trunk size increasing from previous models. The rear leg room is very large, providing more space than you would realize sitting in the back seat. The seats also fold down to provide extra cargo space when you are in need of it. For those sitting in the backseat, a center fold-down armrest provides cup holders and there are even rear-heated seats to enjoy on the upper models of the Optima.

The SX and SXL models, but not the LX model unless specifically chosen, features a fantastic infotainment system that includes a navigation system, voice-recognition technology and even a charging pad for smartphones. In terms of the technological prowess of the vehicle, you simply can't beat the Optima.

More important than anything is safety, and safety is what Kia is all about. The Optima comes equipped with many important safety features that include a reversing camera, a warning system for your blind spot, a cross-traffic alert system for the rear of the vehicle, as well as the standard air bags throughout the vehicle. Bi-Xenon headlights provide safety at night because they allow for illumination around corners and curves while driving at night. The adaptive cruise control will help prevent forward-collisions with its warning system that includes automatic emergency breaking.

For a vehicle that gives you extreme safety, beautiful look and feel, and a high-tech interior, the Kia Optima is a step above the rest. It is no wonder that it was able to be included in the list of the best cars in North America for 2016.
